The small historic center, at about 1000 meters altitude, is formed by the Church of Sant Serni, the cemetery and four or five other houses at the foot of the Roc de La Pedra, at the top of which we find the remains of the Castell de La Pedra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1254\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altipla.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/01_La_Pedra_Altipla_topografia.jpg\" alt=\"01 La Pedra Altipla topography\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">La Pedra with La Pedra Castle on top<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The first documented reference<sup>2<\/sup> \u00a0of the Castle dates back to the year 962, in which the Bishop of Urgell consecrated the church of Sant Serni \u201cin locum Castro Petra fulgenti\u201d. King Peter the Ceremonious declared in 1375 that the \u201cstone castrum\u201d belonged to the new county of Cardona.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">It seems that from the 15th century on the ruins of the castle there was a farmhouse, already ruined in the 19th century. <sup>1<\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">In collaboration with the\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/associacioculturalvalldelord.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Vall de Lord Cultural Association<\/a> , Altipl\u00e0 has carried out the topographic survey of the ruins of Castell de La Pedra. The survey was carried out in December 2014, with a Leica TS15 total station, and with the help of Carles Clotet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1255\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altipla.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/02_La_Pedra_Altipla_topografia.jpg\" alt=\"02 La Pedra Altipla topography\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0Taking data at the Castle, with the Verd mountain in the background<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1256\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altipla.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/03_La_Pedra_Altipla_topografia.jpg\" alt=\"03 La Pedra Altipla topography\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The natural environment is spectacular, located in the Castle we can contemplate a large part of the Vall de Lord, and in the foreground the mountains of Port del Comte and Verd or l&#039;Urdet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The survey will mainly consist of mapping the remains of walls that we can see. We suspect that part of the remains of the castle are still preserved underground.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1257\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altipla.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/04_La_Pedra_Altipla_topografia.jpg\" alt=\"04 La Pedra Altipla topography\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Data capture at the top of the cliff, with the center of La Pedra at your feet<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">According to historians<sup>2<\/sup> It seems that the old castle could have been composed of two bodies, the southernmost of 6.30\u00d710.10 meters and another further north of 8.50\u00d75.60m.
