Vineyard huts in the Baix Penedès

We are conducting GPS topographic surveys to study a new route for a medium-voltage line for the company.  Iplan Comprehensive Project Management In the Baix Penedès region, we find vineyard huts, which are very typical of Mediterranean agriculture.

Vineyard huts were structures that served as tool sheds and resting places. Farmers used them when fieldwork required staying out longer and to shelter from storms when the estates were far from the town center. If the dimensions allowed, they were also used as resting places for draft animals. With the advent of tractors and cars, these structures have gradually lost their original purpose. On the other hand, the edges of the cabins and outbuildings are often the area of the estate chosen to house the various shade trees which, due to their greater size, have become landmarks in a landscape dominated by low-growing vegetation.
